Rules: General Writing Empty Rules: General Writing

  • By signing your name to the rules listed below, you are hereby agreeing to them, and a writer who does not follow the rules will be banned.
  • Please sign using the profile created for yourself, and by signing your name, all your characters will agree to the rules. (That is to say, you do not have to sign every character's name to the bottom of this thread.)

  1. All writers must be respectful of the other writers, and if there is a disagreement that cannot be resolved between two or more writers, the Administrators reserve the right to either step in and solve the problem for the writers and/or ban the writers temporarily.
  2. This is supposed to look like professional writing, so any “IM” or “text” lingo will not be tolerated in the regular post. If you have any out-of-character comments you wish to make in the post, please use <<>> or similar brackets to separate your comment, and in that comment you may use “IM” or “text” lingo. It is also permitted in the ChatBox.
  3. All characters, both canon and original, must have a first and last name before they can be activated and played. They must also post a profile which follows the prescribed format before they can be played. This does not include the registration of oneself (i.e. I will not post a profile for myself).
  4. Marauder’s Era characters (such as Severus Snape, Lily Evans, and the Marauders) will henceforth be named the First Generation; Golden Trio Era characters (such as Draco Malfoy, Neville Longbottom, and the Golden Trio) will henceforth be named the Second Generation; any children of the Second Generation will henceforth be named the Third Generation.
  5. The Canon RPG may not follow the story in the exact manner of the Harry Potter novels. This may include Ron and Hermione not marrying and Teddy Lupin never existing in Canon RPG. These types of plots can be done in the Alternates & FanFiction section, but in the Canon RPG it may not occur.
  6. Threads must follow the format prescribed in the description of the forum. The titles of threads must include the date and location, as well as a short title (or, if the title is a long quote, you may include the first few words or a shortened version of the quote).

    DATE (DD/MONTH/YYYY): Location; “Thread Title”
26 January 2010: The Three Broomsticks, Hogsmead; “Love Stinks” (DONE)
  7. If a writer plans to write violent or sexual scenes, they must sign the rules for doing so, which can be found in the next thread, entitled: Rules for Writing Violence and Sexuality.
  8. HAVE FUN! This is the most important rule of the forum; if we do not have fun writing together, or do not have fun writing at all, it is senseless to even open a forum. If people begin complaining and arguing consistently, not only could those writers be banned, but the forum may go on temporary leave.
  9. If there are any questions, do not hesitate to ask an Administrator!
